100 things every designer needs to know about people
Although a 100 things seem a lot to read and learn, this 200 plus page book is definitely an easy read. "100 things every designer needs to know about people" contains nicely structured paragraphs and ample images to convey psychological concepts on human behaviour. In fact, this book itself is actually designed with these concepts in mind!
Managed to finish this book while commuting, waiting and putting myself out of programming loops for a while.
Shall post my thoughts about this book in this post. 🙂
Who is this book for?
Anybody! Yes, although the word "designer" in the title may have given an impression that this book is for designers, non-designers can definitely get things out of it as well. In fact, I think the word "non-designers" doesn't quite apply, everyone is one. Well, if you really want me to be specific, the following is a small list of people which I think will find this book useful:
- Business owners
- Facilitators
- Graphic designers
- Marketers
- Software engineers
- User experience designers
- Website owners
What I got out of this book
The number one reason that got me into reading this book was that I feel that I need to know people in order to design intuitive software for people. On top of being able to meet my initial intention, I was able to know myself better through this book:
Why do I filter information?
Why do I like to challenges?
Why do I like to seek information?
There are also quite a few terms describing different parts of the brain that lights up when in use, but those didn't really stick with me.
Any prerequisites?
Not really. If you like to read, you will enjoy this book. This book is a story book with lots of interesting stories. Go grab a copy!
